Cartoon Defense

Picture
I am a big fan of tower defense games!  This is an adaption of tower games that is more interactive than most.  The basic premise of the game is that you have a tower and have to defend it from enemies attacking from two sides.  You can upgrade your weapons and add archers on the side to attach without you having to tell them what to do.  The attacking characters are stick figures that attack with increasingly powerful weapons, eventually leading to airborne enemies as well.  So, to download or not to download....

The story line of this app/game is typical.
A princess is fleeing for her life.  A boy and his golemn are searching for a magical weapon and their story lines become intertwined.
This game is actually pretty sweet.  Symphony of Eternity is my kind of RPG.  I had given up on Android RPG’s; but this is actually pretty good.  The game has good graphics and the music is amazing.  The story telling is also excellent.  The game will also allow you export to a HD monitor.  How cool is that?  The only problem that I have seen so far is that I could not figure out how to exit the game.  I had to hit the home button then go in and kill the app.
But all in all it's a minor inconvenience for a great free game.

This game...it will save you $.99. I think it would be beloved by many. It's kind of a story game. It reminded me of Zelda.

Worth Downloading?

But for me I personally don't have the time to invest into a long story game, and there is was just too much reading up front. With that said, like I mentioned above, I know a lot of people that are all about these types of games and I totally support them. The graphics weren't bad and the music definitely put you into a mythical adventure filled journey. As of the time of this article Illusia had 63% four and five star reviews.

So sound off in the comments readers? Are you into these types of games? What's your favorite part about these types of games?

Happy Vikings

By Jacek Sarnecki
Picture
The first thing that i was greeted with was an error message saying "Too large for cellular system, please use WIFI". -1 point. After that, it's a pretty fun game. I like it because its a mixture between connect-4 and bejewelled with vikings! Your job is to push, carry, and toss the merchandise into proper order. When you push or stack at least three alike items in a row, they vanish, and you rack up the points. You have a limited amount of time to get this merchandise stowed away. Each level gets more hectic, with the catapult firing away more and more items.

Box it 2

by Marco Pérez

Okay, so I downloaded this app and two things came to my mind 1) what a heroic little guy! 2) This Inca music is awesome! I'm inspired to Box it!...2! This is app normally runs you 99 cents and is basically a puzzle game. The goal is to push rocks (you can't pull them, hence the strategy) that are placed in a square or "box" looking structure, and you have to place them in certain locations on the screen without "locking" the puzzle.

Worth Downloading?

I think so. The graphics aren't amazing, but it's fun. I love games that make me think really hard. This one does the job. I can see myself playing this game in grocery store lines or similar situations. I think it would also be awesome to give this to a child for parent-break-time, as well as a way to stimulate their creativity...really. I'm an advocate for kids having the right kinds of video games.

So give it a shot and let see who can get the best score on level 1! Mine was Steps 24, Time 99, Total Bonus 960...bring it!

PrinterShare Mobile Print

By Steven Nordin
Picture
PrinterShare is normally going to cost you $12.95! What savings! For some it might even be worth buying - so for  free it’s an easy decision. PrinterShare allows you to print from your phone, and compared to other apps of this type, this one has the most features. You can print such things as photos, documents, google docs, calendars, gmail, contacts, call logs and even text messages - all from a web enabled printer, a wifi or bluetooth printer, or a printer on your home or office network.

Worth Downloading?

As a student, it is for me. It would be great for quickly printing assignments out at school, I could even print things out at home while I am not there! I’m not sure if I would ever really need to do the later, but I bet there all kinds of professional applications for that, such as printing off some forms at the office for someone else who needs them, without even getting on your computer. At first I thought: well, I have an old printer so it probably wouldn’t work for printing things at home, then I learned about Google Cloud Print! Oh Google, what will you come up with next? With Google Cloud Print, you can connect any “classic” printer to the web. I downloaded PrinterShare, and I’m excited to start using it!

Diet Assistant Pro

By Jacek Sarnecki

For all you readers that spend all day downloading the Amazon free apps and proceed to play them all day, today's Amazon Free App is a diet/nutrition app. When I first installed it on my phone, I was surprised to find that all the calculations were in metric (Kgs, Meters..) and was about to say that for Americans that don't know the Metric system, avoid this app. But then, i thought that surely they had a setting for Imperial System (and stop calling me Shirley!). They do! One thing that disappointed me is that the app doesn't start out with filling out your profile, but rather diet plans. Of course, some people will like that.
For Vegetarians, it comes with a Vegetarian/non-vegetarian diet mode. The Diets are slightly cryptic with names like "I feel good" or "Cleaning your body". I guess you can understand what they are going for, but not quite. You have to go through the entire list to find the right diet. This has a worst, best, and average case of O(n).

Should you download it?

Since it's normally a paid app and today it's free, go for it! It looks nice and functions well. You won't go wrong with trying this app out. It's not much different from the 1000 other diet apps out there, but it might just be your cup O tea.

Drag Racing Premium

By Marco Pérez
Picture
Drag Racing Premium is game where you can pick between different cars, upgrade them, win races and prices so you can souping up your car and winning more races. You can race against your own time, a computer, or other people around the world - and that was pretty cool. I specially like the the way you have to shift to speed up. It really gives you a rush when your racing against other people.

Worth Downloading?

If you can't tell from my intro paragraph, I quite enjoy this game. I feel the graphics are primo, the interface is really nice, and it doesn't seem to slow the phone down at all. I like that the races are short enough that I can totally see me playing this game while waiting in lines at the DMV or whatever. Truth be told I'm a little surprised I like this game because I'm the last guy you'd find being a car enthusiast. Just goes to show the talent of the developers over at Creative Mobile OU.

Let us know what y'all think!

Weather,USA Radar,Alerts,Quake,Barometer

by Marco Pérez
Picture
Today's free amazon app will normally run you $3.00 (that's almost three items from your local restaurant's dollar menu). This weather app is supposed to be able to give you a 10 day forecast, a daily forecast, or even an hourly forecast. That interested me right away, though at the same time I was concerned at what that may do to my battery.

Worth downloading?

You know what, I'm not sure...I think the concept is good. But 1) the graphics aren't awesome, the 2) the widgets are mediocre 3) no option to use cell sites to bring you weather info. You can only use GPS, which is going to suck your battery dry relatively quickly. Somebody prove me wrong on this. Love you PractiallyAndroid readers!

Space War HD

by Marco Pérez
Picture
Alright, I know that there are specific genre name for games like tower-defense games, screen-roll games, and others...I actually don't know what all these game genres really are. So with that said I'm going to make up my own genre: Spacey-arcade-shoot-stuff game! That is basically what Space War HD is. And I gotta say, I quite like it!

Worth downloading?

Yes, it is worth downloading, however, be warned: this game is a total time guzzler. It totally took me back to my days of the nickle-cade where I played a lot of these types of games. The graphics are well done, the music is on point for the genre (yes, the one I made up), and I really like that you have to move the plan around with your thumb! I say this because most spacey-arcade-shoot-stuff games are use the motion sensor in the phone, which to me is cool for the first little while, but then it gets quite annoying. I think being able to control the little space shuttle to shoot made it feel a lot like the control you get with a joy stick.

So there you have it friend, enjoy the review, make your decision to get it or not, and we were glad to bring you this review. Just to us a favor and like our Facebook page here so we can continue to grow.
